Johannes van Eeden and Saskia Wicomb are the visionaries behind Les Mazots du Clos, bringing together a deep passion for authentic hospitality and their South African roots. Johannes, an entrepreneur, composer, and poet, founded GivenGain, PayProp, and Edenroche, blending technology, finance, hospitality, and philanthropy with a passion for music and the arts. Saskia brings warmth and generosity to every detail of Saskia’s, the restaurant that carries her name.

Originally acquired as a family home in 2015, Johannes and Saskia transformed Les Mazots du Clos into an inviting retreat that captures the essence of Alpine serenity and charm. With a commitment to creating a space that feels like home, they’ve worked closely with director Mohamed Bakhaouch to maintain the authenticity of the property, offering a true family welcome to all guests.

“Les Mazots was our home before it became the hotel it is today,” Johannes recalls. The property’s natural beauty, with its stunning views and peaceful gardens, inspired them to create a space where guests could truly connect with the surrounding environment and each other.

In 2023, their restaurant Saskia’s evolved into a culinary destination where sharing and discovery are at the heart of the experience. Led by executive chef Marco Cardoso, the restaurant offers a unique tasting journey through smaller, shared plates, featuring local flavors and international influences, all enjoyed against the backdrop of breathtaking mountain views. The menu, inspired by their travels and passion for food, is designed to encourage conversation and shared experiences at the table.

Beyond its culinary offerings, Les Mazots du Clos has become a cultural hub, hosting art exhibitions, concerts, and literary events throughout the year.
